Defending Comic-Con from any reapers that might show up!
We got to meet some amazing people at Comic-con including Jennifer Hale (the voice of FemShep)
And Raphael Sbarge (the voice of Kaidan)
And one of the arists that inks the comic books, he had his portfolio with him and showed us some of the comics that haven't come out yet so that was pretty exciting! I guess the next one is going to be about Wrex, so that is super exciting!
The first person to ask if he could take a picture with us was the Vice President of EA, but were we smart enough to take our own picture with him on our camera, no, of course not, hahaha.
And here is us with a group of N7 cosplayers including Rana McAnear who is the face model for Samara.
Ugh! Shepard's arch nemesis!!! Elevators!!!!
Outside of Comic-con they had an Ender's Game exhibit where you could walk through some of the sets of the movie. Ok, it might be the wrong universe, but generic Sci-Fi backdrops made for some fun picture taking!
And then we got photo bombed by Eddard Stark.
Our friends all dressed as Game of Thrones Characters. Don't worry, I am sure two Shepards would have no problem taking the Iron Throne.
Ok, so this next part is not Mass Effect related, but still pretty awesome so I am going to put it on here anyways. The one day we did not dress as Shepard, we decided to dress as characters from How I Met Your Mother. I was dressed as "the mother" with the very important yellow umbrella and my husband was Barney with the infamous ducky tie. We were excited because the show was making it's first ever appearance at Comic-Con.
Well, we ran into the cast members outside of Indigo Ballroom before their panel was about to start. I guess Josh Radnor (who plays Ted Mosby on the show), had never seen anyone cosplay as someone from his show before, because he was all "woah, you're all How I Met Your Mother dressed up" and seemed genuinely surprised.
So
I was walking through the Comic-Con floor carrying my yellow umbrella.
Well I guess the Creators/Writers for How I Met Your Mother (Carter
Bays, Craig Thomas) were some distance behind me, and they saw the
yellow umbrella weaving through the
crowd. Apparently the started following me, they were trying to catch
up to me, but every time they got a little closer, I would suddenly get a
little further away again. Well I one of them (I think Carter) says
screw it, I am going to go run after her. So suddenly he arrives in
front of me out of breath and tells me the whole story. He said it was
surreal because he felt like he was IN the show chasing after the girl
with the yellow umbrella (in the TV show for the first 8 seasons you
never see the mother's face, you only ever see a yellow umbrella in the
distance and the main character is never quite able to meet her).
Anyways, then Craig also caught up to us and we talked with them for a
few minutes, and they saw that Trevor was also dressed as Barney from
the show and they asked if they could get a picture with us. So
anyways, I just thought that was a really cute story so I would share
it. We were also stopped by a couple of the crew members from the show
earlier, so apparently we made quite an impression on the HIWYM crowd!
Which is neat, but also funny since these outfits were a thousand times
less effort than making N7 armor!
Our tradition for the last day of Comic-Con is to eat at the Joe's Crab Shack because it s behind the convention center and not nearly as many people head that direction, so it is always easy for us to get seats. Well a few years ago I was dressed as Princess Peach and tearing into some crab wearing the stupid bib in a decidedly UN-princess like fashion and one of my friends took a rather funny photo. So now somehow it became a tradition to snap a shot of my in costume with the silly bib on. And then Con is over, and it is time to go back to our regular lives which suddenly seem just a little more boring by comparison.
